BOXES OF LOVE PROJECT OCTOBER 2023

Through the Williamsburg Foundations Garden Project, the Guelph Christadelphians are supporting the Boxes of Love Initiative. Our members were asked by Janine, the project lead, to sign up and purchase items to donate. Volunteers committed to purchasing 15 items from a list. Later, Janine organized an evening when participants could meet together to assemble the Care Packs.

After the assembly, the packs were brought to HOPE House. This community organization is well-positioned to distribute things like this to those in need. As you can read below, we have used HOPE House for other projects.

Thank you Guelph Christadelphians for your generous donation of 15 care kits for vulnerable individuals in Guelph. We can see the care and attention that was made to ensure that much needed items like soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, Kleenex, combs, lip balm and more were included. The Walmart gift card was especially appreciated as it recognizes the dignity of the individual receiving these kits and how they are best positioned to know specific items they require.

BIBLE BOOK BOX PROJECT SEPTEMBER 2023

A WCF Rise Up and Build Project

Recently, our church members gathered together to build a Bible Book Box, which will be placed in the front yard of our building. You may be familiar with ‘Little Free Libraries, ‘ which is standard in some neighbourhoods. Members gathered with the project leader, James, to build and paint the book box. We plan to have a mounting post in our front yard before the ground freezes this winter. We will fill the box with material for anyone interested in hearing the good news of the Kingdom of God.

KITS 4 KIDS PROJECT

The Guelph Christadelphians, through the Williamsburg Foundations Garden Project, are supporting the Kits4Kids Initiative. We recently received 44 backpacks from the initiative. Our church volunteer’s purchased supplies to fill them with items that would be useful for the Kindergarten to Grade 2 age group.  When we were looking for a place to distribute them we became aware of another local initative in Guelph who had local school contacts already arranged for their similar project.

We contacted HOPE House who already had over 1000 backpacks ready to distribute to local elementary schools. Last year they distributed over 1600 of these packs. When we called them they were overjoyed to hear of our desire to add to the total and said they had over 200 families on their waiting list.

Dear neighbours,
Thank you so much for your generous support of the backpack project here at HOPEHouse.
You are making such a difference in the lives of children through this compassion.

BAGS OF LOVE

THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING THE 2020/2021 WINTER APPEAL

We received 20 sleeping bags from the WCF Garden Outreach project just before Christmas 2020. This was part of a North-America wide initiative to bring warmth, comfort and shelter to those most in need during the most grueling season and to shine our light in the process. The project involved connecting with an organization that is already on-the-ground in the local community with twogoals in mind:

1) to help those in need in the most efficient/effective way possible and

2) to develop and nurture a relationship between the Guelph ecclesia and our local community going forward.

The Guelph Community Health Centre (GCHC) very gladly and gratefully received our donation of 20 water/weather proof sleeping bags, sharing that: “We have been giving them out to individuals who are sleeping outside on a regular basis, and they have been incredibly helpful to have on hand. It is because of the generosity of the people in your group, that we are able to support some of our
communities most marginalized to feel SEEN and cared about.”
